Each day students have scheduled time for outdoor play, except when air quality is not suitable. Air quality is always monitored both inside and outside, with an air purification system operating within the building to ensure that students in the center enjoy air that is of optimal standard. Outdoor play is suspended when the outdoor AQI is 150 or above. Outdoor play is then relocated to the Multi-Purpose Room/s.
School Dress
There is a uniform for Early Years students, however this is only required to be worn on days when students participate in a school field trip or are representing the Early Years Center. At other times students have the option to wear the uniform or they may wear their own choice of personal clothing.
Care should be taken when helping to choose students’ clothing, to ensure it is both practical and comfortable for both indoor and outdoor activities. Clothing can influence the quality of their experiences and may affect their health, safety, comfort, play and learning.
Students need clothes that allow them to be independent and able to dress themselves e.g. comfortable pants and shoes that are quick and easy to put on and take off by themselves.
Absence from School
Parents are asked to telephone, email or send a note of explanation to the Classroom Teacher if their child is absent through sickness or any other reason.
If there is a special occasion where a student is to be absent for any reason other than illness, please advise the teaching staff at least one day before.
Routines are very important for young students and we encourage students to attend school every day and arrive on time.
Late Arrival
Students arriving after 8:40am are marked as ‘late’ for school on our attendance register. If arriving after 8:40am parents are asked to report to the reception desk to sign in before going to class. The School receptionist will adjust the school attendance register accordingly.
Lateness is monitored and parents will be contacted to work out a solution should there be a pattern of lateness. Valuable learning is missed when students arrive late.
Early Departure
If students are required by their parents to leave school early, the parent must make prior arrangements with the Classroom Teacher. Prior to departure the parent and student are asked to report to the front reception desk and sign-out with the receptionist.
Rest Time
Each day the students have a rest time. After Spring Festival, 5 year old students will begin transitioning for primary school and no long have rest time. Parent/s are required to provide the following bedding items:
• One top sheet maximum size 134cm*60 cm • One bottom fitted sheet size 164*80cm
• One small pillow with cover
Every Friday bedding items will be sent home for laundering. Please return each Monday morning. We ask that all parents label, with the child’s name, all bedding items.
Extended Absence
Parent/s are requested to inform the Classroom Teachers if their child will be absent from school for an extended period of time. While it is not easy to replicate the school- learning environment when away from the school, teaching staff are able to provide some guidance for the students continued learning while they are absent.
